🌿What is Ayurveda?

What is Ayurveda

Ayurveda is a holistic approach to healing from the inside out and restoring all of you, not just a symptom.

It is an ancient system of holistic healing that originated in India over 5,000 years ago. The word Ayurveda means “the science of life,” and it’s based on the idea that true health comes from balance... not just in the body, but also in the mind, emotions, and spirit.

At the heart of Ayurveda are the three doshas: Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. These doshas are natural energy types made up of the elements (air, fire, water, earth, and ether) and they influence how your body functions, how you think, how you digest food, and how you respond to stress.

Everyone has all three doshas, but usually one or two are more dominant. When your doshas are in balance, you feel healthy, grounded, and energized. When they’re out of balance, discomfort or illness can arise.

Ayurveda focuses on prevention and alignment, not just treating symptoms. It looks at your unique constitution and supports you with personalized tools such as food choices, herbs, daily routines, movement, breathwork, and lifestyle practices. Rather than a one-size-fits-all approach, Ayurveda honors that each person is different and needs different forms of care.

Overall, Ayurveda teaches us how to live in harmony with nature, our bodies, and our inner rhythms... helping restore holistic balance so health feels natural, sustainable, and deeply nourishing.
